Country Chic

Britta Davies and Bert Schenone were married on June 25, 2011 at Saint Joachim Catholic Church in Linden, CA. The reception to follow was held in a chic rustic barn called Chestnut hill. Britta came to me with a definite vision of what she was looking for and we had so much fun collaborating together! She had a set color scheme of grey with small accents of yellow throughout. She wanted white flowers(specifically peonies) and yellow craspedia (most commonly called billy balls) with a grey tinted furry greenery called dusty miller. She was using mason jars for refreshments and so we thought we would use mason jars that she had from Bert's family as vases and candle holders. She loved the idea of having large rustic lanterns on the tables along with flowers, so we ordered 12 of those for the tables in 3 different sizes. Then we ordered 12 dozen mercury glass votive holders to hold candles in some and a single white peony in the others. I bought wooden boxes and distressed them white and then packed them with dusty miller, white hydrangea, billy balls and soft yellow and creme 60cm and spray roses. She knew that because of the tight space and having to fit roughly 180 people in the barn, that she wanted a family style dinner served to guests seated on large kings tables.   The tables were then covered with a burlap table runner atop white linens that draped to the floor and flanked by dark mahogany folding chairs that accented the barn beautifully. On the outside of the barn there were two fabulous 15 ft. long old white church benches. Britta bought several pillows in three different grey, white and yellow patterns for them and then close by was a sitting area with different eclectic pieces of vintage furniture with burlap on top and a mason jar filled with flowers. The cocktail area had specialty linens on the tables and on the sign in table was a large manzanita tree. From it hung mason jars with candles and in front of it was a very large white box floral arrangement packed with flowers. The tables used for the cocktail hour were wine barrels which i placed flowers on. There were hand made wooden painted signs made by the grooms sister that had sweet sayings and their names on them as well as to direct guests where to park while arriving at the venue. Britta made moss covered letters to be hung on the face of the barn, a pennant banner out of burlap that read just married for the wall inside along with burlap curtains on the barn opening inviting guests to come inside. The favors were displayed in the most creative way. They had a fruit stand with an awning that stayed within the color scheme of course complete with different fruit in packing boxes and a bag with thank you sticker that matched their invitations. This wedding was so artistic and creative and was truly so much fun to be a part of and not only because of all the beautiful details. The bride and groom wanted everyone to enjoy delicious specialty cocktails, eat great food and dance to a wonderful band and that's exactly what they all did!
